In 2017 I was tracking Trump’s polling numbers like a day trader tracks the stock market. Every increase in his disapproval rating was a cause for celebration and every decrease a cause for alarm. I thought that an unending parade of reveals about his lack of character, incompetence, corruption, racism, illiteracy, etc. would keep driving down his approval rating until it was in the single digits. How naive. Quixotic. No reveal drove his approval rating below the 36% reported here. Nothing including Russian bounties on American soldiers has dropped his approval among those who identify as Republican under 80%.   It took me 3 years to come to grip with the reasons why.

There is no bridge too far, no utterance too vile, no act too low, no lie too obvious and no outrage too egregious for Donald Trump. Once you accept that our path is clear. To save the Republic Trump must be ousted sooner, not later. He partnered, not just colluded, with Putin to rob the American people of one of our most cherished democratic institutions: free elections.

For every 6 months that Trump is in office it will take a generation to repair the divisions in our country he has deepened, to rebuild the democratic institutions he has savaged and to reclaim our standing as world leader. His actions and our slow-on-the-uptake reactions darkened the future of the next generation and, soon, the generation
after that. It does not matter whether you are a Republican or a Democratic, an urban dweller or a rural one, a coal miner or a programmer, own a business or work for one, have naturally straight or curly hair, or speak English with an accent or not. ALL will be laid to waste in Trump’s wake. If we cannot muster the national will to rid ourselves of these malicious fools and right this ship, we deserve our fate but our children and our children’s children do not.

There is no reason not to hypothesize and every reason to hypothesize that Russia actually manipulated votes and that the real purpose of the Election Integrity Commission is to first collect voter data, second to alter the data to hide Russia’s manipulation of the vote and third to give Russia data they
will use to hack the 2018 congressional and 2020 presidential elections
