The Spanish government called for 10 days of mourning for their coronavirus dead in May.The King of Spain led a memorial service for CoVID-19 victims yesterday.What has Trump done? No remorse, no empathy, no responsibility.This is President Trump.

Acknowledging the victims of COVID-19 would be to associate himself with their weakness…Perhaps most crucially, for Donald there is no value in empathy, no tangible upside to caring for other people.

The press has covered Trump’s lack of empathy for the thousands Americans who have died of CoVID unnecessarily.  For more see here and here.  Mental health professionals including Trump’s own niece attribute this to extreme narcissm and sociopathy.  Indeed, a number of noted psychiatrists, psychologists and psychoanalysts believe they have a duty to warn the public about the national security threat Trump’s poses for the nation.  Others less sanguine say the absence of empathy and compassion is evidence of a low emotional quotient or EQ.  In truth the reason Trump is unfit for leadership is only of passing interest to me although I will note that one can be both mad and evil.  I do not know whether in Trump’s case madness led to evil or evil led to madness.  I do know that he has done much harm to our nation and many lives have been lost unnecessarily as a result.  Trump must be voted out, tried and convicted.  Whether he spends the remainder oF his days in a prison cell or in an asylum for the insane I will leave to the judges  to decide.
