Countdown to 2022

A Blue Wave is Coming!

Where Are the People of Color in Group Photo of White House Interns?

The lack of people of (obvious) color in this photo were an omen of things to come.  About this time secret white power hand gestures and neo-nazi pins in White House photos were being explained away as coincidences. You know, “Move along, these are not the droids you’re looking for”.  I wonder if Kelly and McMasters regret serving Trump?

I do not know anything about the qualifications of these interns and so I assume they are well qualified. However, I believe there are equally qualified people of color who would have gladly accepted a WH internship. After all, “serving the office

Trump’s State Of Mind Is Cause For Alarm

This WaPo opinion  piece about Trump’s state of mind in threatening to fire Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating if Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 campaign, prompted my own speculations.  Since then there’s been an avalanche of tell-all books and articles by former administration officials like John Bolton, family, psychiatrists, fixers, senior government executives, fired government executives like James Comey, and even the ghost writer for The Art of The Deal that say what we’d only begun to grasp back then:  Donald Trump is unwell and dangerously unfit for the office he holds.

If Trump is guilty of impeachable offenses and criminal acts, and I believe he is, firing Mueller makes perfect sense. He cannot allow Mueller’s investigation to continue to its logical conclusion. The odds are better than even that Republicans will do no more than sharply rebuke his actions while coaxing into the midterms with a fervent prayer that they retain their majority. Some short-lived civil unrest and then back to business as usual. A small price to pay considering the alternative for him. If he underestimates the strength of the GOP backlash, he is still better off firing Mueller than he would have been if Mueller is allowed to conclude his investigation. I believe Trump to be guilty of treasonous acts (conspiring with a foreign power to harm our nation) and criminal acts (money laundering and pay-to-play foreign policy). With charges like these looming at the end of the investigation what recourse does he have but to fire Mueller?

Andrew McCabe, FBI Deputy Director Fired

We stood with Comey, McCabe, Vindman, and a legion of others fired for doing their jobs.

Do you see the irony in a regime that would rather lie on credit than tell the truth for cash alleging that McCabe was fired for a lack of candor? And to anyone who says McCabe’s firing is only circumstantial evidence of guilt, I say just like winning the Powerball 10 times in a row is only circumstantial evidence of fraud.

Porn Actress Sets Up Fundraiser To Pay Legal Fees for Suit Against Trump

It’s not cheap defending oneself from the lies and distortion of Donald Trump.  You got to be willing to brawl.   And that takes money.  So why not a fundraiser for the porn actress Stormy Daniels to raise money for her suit to void an NDA barring her from talking about her sexual encounters with Trump in exchange for $130,000 Trump paid through his fixer? Three years later, August 2020, a California court orders Trump to pay Ms. Daniel’s attorney fees.

My initial reaction was “no way” but upon further reflection I changed my mind. I do not care how Trump leaves our House, just that he get gone. Her motive is immaterial. Good can result from the basest of motives. He wipes his arm pits with our constitution and spits on our flag every day that he is in office. I put donating to her defense fund along side colluding with our enemy to undermine one of our most cherished institutions (free elections), profiteering from the Office, rank nepotism, diminishing our nation’s standing in the world, blatantly disrespecting women, selling the lives of our children to the NRA, dissing our proven allies, and such a lack of empathy or attempted understanding of our citizens of color that no other word but racist will do. And on and on and on. Considering that Trump will do anything, I mean anything, to profit from the exploitation of our nation’s vulnerabilities and avoid exposure, the question for me cease to be whether I should donate, but how much.

Trump Spokeman Slips Up on Collusion

Trump’s collusion with Russia was an open secret.  Everybody knew it but nobody would admit it.  I first suspected collusion when Trump said infamously, “Russia if you’re listening…”.   Interesting how often Trump or one of his spokesman tripped themselves up when denying his relationship with Putin like here.

The “Russian Defense”, a strategy for avoiding truth and consequences. First deny the act as Putin did Russian interference in our Presidential election. Then, when that is no longer viable, acknowledge the act but disavow the actors. In Putin’s case the second part of the Russian Defense goes something like this: These acts were committed by Russians who were not really Russian. Or these acts were committed by Russians affiliated with the State but they were not sanctioned by the State and they were undertaken without the State’s knowledge. In Trump’s case, now that denying Russian interference is no longer viable, the new message will be this: These acts were committed by campaign officials who were not really campaign officials. Or these acts were committed by people affiliated with me but they were not sanctioned by me and they were undertaken without my knowledge. Trump’s new message will be no more believable than that of his partner. In the meantime, no Russian sanctions, no DT tweet in response to Putin’s new-nukes-aimed-at-Florida announcement and $0/$120M spent by State to protect Nov’s elections.
